Issues: Abortion

I'm in favor of babies! I'm in favor of dramatically improving opportunities for unwanted babies to be easily and inexpensively adopted into loving homes. When that isn't possible, I'm in favor of government staying out of the process. Since she owns her own body, I'm in favor of leaving difficult, emotional, heart-wrenching decisions to the woman, her doctor, her family and her spiritual adviser. Whatever her decision, there should be no taxpayer funding of any related medical procedures.

Absent the initiation of force, I will tolerate your decisions about how to live your life and I expect you to offer me (and all others) the same courtesy -- that idea is at the core of the liberty proposition.

Some favoring the 'pro-life' position would have others making decisions for women, in essence, forcing them to potentially endure an unwanted pregnancy. I am very much in favor of encouraging all women to choose to have a baby rather than an abortion, but I see that as a decision that is not mine to make.

Those who favor having the government further regulate the actions of the free and sovereign individuals who ostensibly created the government -- are tracking down a very dangerous path. We can see daily the devastating results of allowing our government more control over our lives. From a purely Constitutional point of view, there is no federal authority to regulate abortion regardless of one's opinion of the procedure.

The Republican and Democrat parties have proven conclusively for the past ~150 years that they favor more and more control of our lives through an ever-growing government and an army of bureaucrats creating regulations. Demanding government regulation of abortion will move us further down this path.

Abortion is certainly a very divisive issue. If abortion is the only issue where you and I differ significantly, I certainly hope that you will give due consideration to the world I promote, where you and everyone you know would be free to choose life; whereas, the growing police-state being built by the parties of big government will inevitably lead to less and less liberty for everyone.

For you to live in world where you have freedom and liberty to choose how to live your life, you must be willing to allow others to also choose how to live their lives even if you do not approve of their choices.
